Our Impact

We detail the evidence from the children and schools of the short and long term impact our programmes have.

St. Helens Pilot

During the delivery of a 16 week ‘pilot’ course at a primary school in the Borough of St Helens, Merseyside in the Spring Term of 2025, the Founder and Creator of the Elite Tennis and Sports Programme CIC, Mr John Powell, gathered evidence to provide proof of how impactful and successful the ‘pilot’ had been in fulfilling the Founder’s aims of the ‘Programme’.

The School

In April 2025, the school arranged for Mr. John Powell to provide ‘soft ball’ tennis coaching to our Year 5 children. Prior to the commencement of the coaching sessions, Mr. Powell explained his history and produced to the school the original copies of his Enhanced DBS certificate, a Copy of his Public Liability Insurance Certificate and personal identification. From the outset, Mr. Powell proved himself to be professional, knowledgeable, and good with all the children.

He immediately fostered a good working relationship with the children, utilising a friendly but firm approach to manage behaviour, using humour to engage and motivate them all. Mr. Powell began the programme of lessons he had prepared by initially developing basic skills, such as throwing and catching before moving on to more advanced techniques.

At all times, Mr. Powell ensured all children were fully involved in the sessions and able to fulfil their individual potential. Mr. Powell is particularly skilled at making sure all children, no matter what their ability level, feel that they are doing well through words of encouragement and motivation. His sessions are fun and energetic with lots of laughter and shouts of encouragement heard from the children.

"The children cannot wait to have him back."

The children have thoroughly enjoyed the sessions with Mr. Powell, asking every week when he is coming in. Aside from the enjoyment and fun that has been had, the children have all made huge progress and have shown an improvement in their skills.

At the end of the sessions, Mr. Powell provided a detailed assessment of each child’s ability and how they had done in the sessions. This assisted the class teacher in writing the end of year reports. Mr. Powell provided certificates for all children at the end of the programme and he also presented awards and medals at the end of each individual session to maintain engagement and a level of competition amongst the children.

It has been arranged for Mr. Powell to continue delivery of the coaching next year and the children cannot wait to have him back. I would not hesitate to recommend Mr. Powell to any school considering this type of coaching.
