At four years old Co-founder of Elite Tennis and Sports John Powell was taken into the care of Social Services. As an abandoned child he faced uncertainty and difficult challenges. Despite the obstacles and often traumatic experiences John demonstrated extraordinary resilience and, with help from friends, turned his life around
A few years ago John's passion for tennis led him from being an average player to winning tournaments. But the lessons he learned on the way taught John many things about himself and he realised his experiences and knowledge could help children, especially those who have had similar experiences to himself.
Knowing how sport had helped John, he felt strongly that the benefits he gained would be hugely help children find their own path in life.
John applied the same determination and passion to gaining professional and academic qualifications. Using these skills and combining this with his own experiences John has developed sporting programmes that allow children of all abilities to take part in sports.
